Christmas Break

Issue 7 December 16, 2010

Diaper Drive Update

The organizers of our Diaper Drive had set the goal for 3000 diapers. They were not prepared, however, for the response that this community made. 12,000 + was where the tally stood when the drive ended. Cindy Williams, a parent and the driving force behind the drive, was overcome with response. For more information on the drive, see this weekend’s Tri-City Herald.

Christmas Break

When school lets out tomorrow afternoon, it will be the start of our Christmas Vacation. We will be off of classes for a full two weeks. The first day back to school in the New Year is Monday, January 3.

7th Grade through 10th Grade – Semester Exams

The end of the first semester is January 14. High School classes will end on the 11th (for the Quarter) and Exams will commence on the 12th. Each High School quarter grade accounts for 40 percent of the final grade and the exams account for the remaining 20% of the final grade.

7th and 8th grade exams are actually quarter finals. Each Quarter accounts for 25% of the year-end final grade. Some 7th and 8th grade students are enrolled in a high school class or two. They will be expected to sit for exams accordingly. The schedules will be posted in the next Dirt.

Basketball…

Currently, we are able to offer four programs. Our elementary (grades 1-4) program will be on Tuesday after school (3:30-4:45). We have a grades 5-8 boys program two days a week, Tuesday from 5:00-6:30 and Thursday from 3:30-5:00. Varsity Girls practice Mondays from 5:00 to 6:30 and Wednesdays from 3:30-5:00, and Varsity Boys practice Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:30-5:00. There is a fee for each of the programs.

More detail (information about cost, games, coaches, etc.) will be posted during the Christmas break. Go to the Athletics page after the 26th of December to see that detail.

Christmas Program…

Tonight at 6:30 come enjoy the annual TCJA Christmas program. In previous years, we have served refreshments, but this year we are catering to parents’ wishes at such a busy time of year. We will be hosting the program, after which you are welcome to head off to your other commitments. We’ll do the juice and baking at the spring music program, when we all have more time to hang out.
